Antique Cars, Planes and Motorcycles

From the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum (WAAAM) Website – “The WAAAM Air & Auto Museum has one of the largest collections of still-flying antique aeroplanes and still-driving antique automobiles in the country.”

It had been a while since I’d been through the museum, but I had the chance over the weekend to do so, and have they ever added a lot.

This is an amazing collection of cool old stuff.  Most of it is good ole’ American transportation and engineering history, with a spattering of other things that any baby boomer would remember from childhood.

Also, any kid would have fun and learn lots from looking at these things – old, unrestored autos, motorcycles and airplane motors, plus cool old Americana antiques.

What a great place for kids of any age – The museum is located at the Hood River Airport (Ken Jernstedt Airfield) – plan a visit!

Formula SAE – November 2013

These are some pictures of a recent Formula SAE test in Dallesport.

Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International (SAE, previously known as the Society of Automotive Engineers). The competition was started in 1978 and was originally called SAE Mini Indy.

I took these photos last weekend at the “top secret” test facility that we use to test race cars (and try other silly stuff we shouldn’t do on public roads…).  The Formula SAE teams from around the Northwest started coming here a few years ago when one of the local kids (who is now a full time race engineer) got involved in the program.  I LOVE this stuff!!!
